Honda CR-V was introduced in the year 2006. It was one among the early small car kind of SUVs in the market.

Although it was somewhat underpowered with a horsepower of 126, many of the CRV customers hailed the unique combination of all wheel drive, low fuel consumption, reliability and spacious versatile interiors.

Body Design

One should thank the unibody construction, suspension which is four wheels and is independent and light weight, the Honda CRV was offered very certain car kind of handling. Design of all wheel drive system of CRV was not done for real adventures off-road but it proved itself that it is helpful on the slippery roads.

In the normal conditions, the vehicle runs on the front wheel drive; as the front wheels lose the traction and start slipping, the rear wheels will help to kick in. This is achieved by usage of the viscous clutch in order to engage the rear wheels.

Models of Honda CRV from the year 1996 were fitted with the transversely placed 4 cylinder 2 liter which gives a horsepower of 126.

In the year 1999, the engine of CRV was slightly altered and got an additional horsepower of 20. This engine is easy and reliable to maintain. Honda CRV between 1997 and 2001 has a timing belt, which is needed in order to be replaced in the recommended intervals.
